New platform, new look, new Jeep Compass
The Jeep Compass arrives rebuilt from the ground up as it enters the next generation, complete with a new platform, updated styling, and, most importantly, all-new powertrains. Combustion engines are out, replaced by hybrid and all-electric options for the upcoming model year. Crossovers may hold a special place in the heart of American consumers, but they could be in for some heartbreak when it comes to the 2026 Jeep Compass.

The 2026 Jeep Compass packs 375 horsepower
The 2026 Jeep Compass rides on the Stellantis STLA Medium platform, which means it gets extended by 6.1 inches and receives a whopping total of five electrified powertrains. The base hybrid model features a 48V hybrid powertrain that’s expected to deliver 145 horsepower. That’s a pretty modest output, especially when there are more powerful competitors already on the market. Upgrading to the plug-in hybrid powertrain pushes performance to a more respectable 195 horsepower.

The all-electric Jeep Compass comes in three different variations, with the entry-level model offering 213 horsepower. The automaker didn’t share details for the mid-tier trim, but the top-spec all-electric Compass comes with all-wheel drive and 375 horsepower. While Jeep also didn’t reveal any details regarding battery capacity, the manufacturer did claim a range of around 400 miles on the European WLTP cycle, which measures maximum range in controlled conditions.
“This vehicle is the perfect expression of the Jeep ruggedness and performance, delivering state-of-the-art solutions while preserving our commitment to electrification and sustainability,” said Fabio Catone, Head of Jeep Brand in Enlarged Europe.

As far as charging goes, the Jeep Compass should be competitive with other EVs. The electrified model can charge at speeds up to 160 kW, which should be quick enough to go from 20% to 80% charge in around 30 minutes, according to the automaker. The Compass doesn’t make a drastic departure from the previous generation in terms of style, so the crossover should still be plenty capable. The redesigned model features eight inches of ground clearance, and as far as tech goes, it gets a massive 16-inch horizontal center screen, as well as a 10-inch digital instrument display.
The all-new Jeep Compass might not come stateside
While Americans love crossovers, we may not see the Jeep Compass in its renewed glory anytime soon. Stellantis confirmed to Car and Driver that they were putting production of the Compass on hold amid uncertainty due to the Trump administration’s tariffs. That’s a bit of a letdown, especially after seeing some of these photos.
“As we navigate today’s dynamic environment, Stellantis continues to reassess its product strategy in North America to ensure it is offering customers a range of vehicles with flexible powertrain options to best meet their needs. As a result, the Company has temporarily paused work on the next-generation Jeep Compass, including activities at the Brampton Assembly Plant,” said a Stellantis spokesperson.
Stellantis has already opened up orders for the Jeep Compass in Europe, with deliveries expected to begin towards the end of the year. So far, the manufacturer hasn’t given any indication as to whether the Jeep Compass will ever come to the United States.

Final thoughts
The all-new Jeep Compass looks pretty slick, with a rather tall stance that gives way to plenty of ground clearance. It’s no super off-roader, but if that’s what you’re in the market for, odds are you have your sights set on a Wrangler. The Compass has never been a standout model, so pumping it up with two hybrid and three all-electric powertrains is a bold move. Then again, it isn’t entirely unexpected, especially since Jeep is planning to become an EV-only brand in Europe by 2030.
